Our Boarding House is home to up to 20 students from around the world, aged 15 to 19. English is the language of everyday life. This role combines two responsibilities: providing day-to-day support as a Boarding House Caregiver (32 hours/week) and assisting the Boarding House Manager (8 hours/week) with administrative, operational, and strategic tasks.
Your Qualifications
- Completed training as a pedagogical specialist (e.g. educator, social pedagogue, therapeutic pedagogue, social work, or comparable qualification)
- Several years of professional experience (at least three years) in residential or semi-residential youth care desirable
- Good command of English
- High level of independence, persuasiveness, assertiveness, and creativity
- Appreciative and resource-oriented attitude towards adolescents and young adults
- Knowledge of the Social Code Book VIII (SGB VIII – Child and Youth Welfare Act)
Your Tasks
In the role of Deputy Head Boarding House, you will support Boarding House Manager in:
- Developing educational programing for the Boarding House
- Personnel planning, personnel management and personnel development
- Professional support and advice for Boarding House Team and boarders
- Coordination of the organizational processes in the Boarding House
- Conception and coordination of the pedagogical objectives of the Boarding House
- Continuous exchange and close cooperation between school and administrative departments
- Ensures that the Boarding House meets all standards of the SGBVIII for operation
In the role of Boarding House Caregiver (32 hours):
- Supporting and promoting independence among young people aged 15–19
- Providing mentoring and guidance tailored to individual goals
- Developing and organizing leisure activities
- Collaborating with parents
- Designing and implementing individualized support programs
- Building and maintaining networks (schools, authorities, associations, cooperation partners, etc.)
- Participating in regular supervision sessions
- Handling administrative tasks
- Contributing to team meetings
Working Hours
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- 8 of the 40 hours reserved for Deputy Head role
- Willingness to do shift work (evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts)
- Remuneration according to the in-house collective agreement ( based on the TV-L SuE)
