Cologne International School Tuition Fees

The operation of the school concept of Cologne International School requires the financial participation of the parents, since the school is run without state subsidies. All income is used to operate the school and the associated necessary and regulatory required administrative work. The amount of the school fees and expenses are adjusted annually by the school.

*** Depending on the number of subjects – 5 subjects are needed for accreditation as “NRW Mittlerer Schulabschluss”.
**** For families who have children currently (2021/2022) enrolled at CIS, fees will be reduced in the IB Diploma Program by 1.000 EUR in school years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.
***** Exam fees will be communicated to parents in writing and invoiced when due.

Financial Aid Program

In order to enable as many families as possible to participate in the educational concept of Cologne International School,
the school offers a financial aid program within the scope of its economic possibilities and on the basis of the regulatory
school law requirements of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, for which families can apply who meet the following
criteria for the household income in the sense of adding the positive annual gross income. These include:

  • Income from self-employment and business activities
  • Income from employment (salary payments)
  • Income from renting and leasing
  • Income from agriculture and forestry
  • Income from capital assets,
  • Pensions and other income
  • Alimony and wage replacement benefits
  • Foreign income

A request for financial aid can only be made for annual school fees and will not be granted for registration fees.
A school fee reduction can be applied for for household income in the following amounts:

Besides this Financial Aid regulation, a temporary reduction in school fees can be granted in individual cases if, after
examining the individual personal and economic circumstances, the burden is temporarily too high due to unforeseeable
events.
In order to maintain confidentiality and avoid the stigmatisation of families, Cologne International School commissioned
the tax consultancy firm Wieland Wirtschaftsprüfer und Steuerberater to examine the applications for the Financial Aid
program.

Application process:

Step 1

Step 2

Documents must be submitted by the end of February at the latest, after that only exceptional cases (e.g. job loss) or short-term registrations can be considered

Step 3

Calculation of the financial aid by the tax consultancy based on the submitted documents (first half of March)

Step 4

Consolidated Proposal is submitted by Tax Advisory Firm to Finance Director/Managing Director for approval

Step 5

After the final check and approval, the applicants will receive feedback from financialaid@if-koeln.de by mid-March
