Cologne International School as IB World School

It’s an exciting time for all of us at Cologne International School. We are nearing the end of our review cycle for our Primary Years Programme / International Baccalaureate (IB) School evaluation. Each IB World School is regularly evaluated – typically every 5 years – to ensure that the standards and practices of its programme are implemented. Since the last visit of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 2016 we have continually reviewed, reflected on and made improvements to our programme implementation.

As life-long learners we do not believe that one is ever done learning and are excited to be part of an organization that values continuous reflection and improvement. In August 2020 we officially began our self study process for this year’s IB School evaluation. Teachers, staff and administrators began delving deep into the new standards and practices. We identified areas we are shining in and those that we feel we could continue to improve on. Over the past year we have gathered evidence (in the form of pictures, videos, documents, presentations etc.) to support our self assessment which we will present to our visiting team at the end of October.

During the visit, which will be held virtually due to the pandemic, the visiting team will meet with parents, students, teachers and administrators to receive input and feedback on the school’s practices and its implementation of the programme. All Cologne International School parents who have a child enrolled in grades 1-5 are invited to volunteer to participate. A few weeks after the evaluation we will receive the school report, which will give us very thorough feedback. This feedback will be the basis for the action plan we will then develop for the following 5 year implement, review, enhance cycle. Together we can ensure that Cologne International School continues to be a place to live life and love learning.
