The International General Certificate of Secondary Education

In Grades 9 and 10 students study for the University of Cambridge’s International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSEs). This is an internationally recognized upper middle school qualification, granting students access to university preparation courses, such as the A levels, IB Diploma, or the Abitur in Germany.

Our IGCSE programme ensures students follow a broad curriculum of subjects and are able to develop their skills in depth in each discipline.

Students generally select 7-10 subjects, in which they will be assessed by an externally marked examination at the end of the programme.

  • English – First or Additional Language, World Literature
  • German – First or Additional Language

While our 9th and 10th graders are – rightfully so – extremely focussed on their exams, we see it as equally important to continue supporting their balanced, well-rounded development. We strongly encourage participation in extracurricular activities and we develop stimulating, out-of-the-classroom projects and excursions, applying learning to real-life situations. Our 9th graders gain first valuable insight into possible careers through a 2-week internship, which can be completed locally or internationally. Moreover, we also begin initial counselling to help students start thinking about their further educational and career aspirations.
